Rolling Out The Red Carpet
THE CHALLENGE:
Midland Atlantic, the developer of Kenwood Place, wanted to transform a dark two-level former furniture store into a movie theater. The project needed to fit nine screens, an escalator, offices, ticketing and concessions into the existing space.
THE RESOLUTION:
FRCH developed a design plan that accomplished all of the owner's objectives. To accommodate larger screen heights on the upper floor the design required raising and restructuring the existing roof. To create a visually recognizable theater experience, a modern interpretation of an art deco marquee was adapted to the exterior façade at a minimal expense.
